sum.cumo at conferences 2018
Baaam! Wherever we are, that’s where everyone else will go next. Yet then we’ll already have moved on. There isn’t much out there that develops as fast as the digital world. And since it’s our goal to always be ahead, we place a lot of emphasis – namely, nearly one percent of our revenue in 2018 – on training, making us and our crew pioneers of the industry.
75,000 kilometers traveled to 40 conferences
In 2018, we bought almost a hundred conference tickets, sent our “sum-cumos” on journeys totaling over 75,000 kilometers (more than 45,000 miles) and were in attendance at 40 different conferences, exhibitions, festivals and conventions. The European capitals were our most frequent destinations, but our quest to gain ever more expert knowledge also took us to New York and the Silicon Valley. The topics most interesting to us included UX design, DevOps, digital marketing, design and creativity, digitization, as well as technology.
Web Summit was a highlight
The absolute highlight was the four-day Web Summit in Lisbon in early November. “This is the biggest and most comprehensive internet tech conference in the world,” explains Andreas Wenk, managing director of sum.cumo. “It provides us with an outstanding opportunity to network with big players and startups from all different industry segments in order to maintain our position as front-running innovators and implementers of digital business models.”
In addition to attending conferences, 2018 saw our crew itself setting standards and sharing their expert knowledge with others in numerous talks and presentations.
Having fun!
We also showed that learning can be a lot of fun! According to an informal hallway survey, of our 142 over-night conference stays, 29 of them were spent partying. In cozy locations, many of our colleagues decided to tack on a couple days off after the conference. At sum.cumo, fun and free time are important!
